This past April, I had a wonderful learning experience at a workshop with Nan Rothwell. The facility was wonderful and Nan’s husband did a great job in caring for us and seeing that we were well fed.

I am a fairly inexperienced potter and was in the process of setting up my own studio. I have been attending classes one day a week for about seven months a year for the past three years. Through Nan’s instructions I was able to gain years of experience. Many of her ideas and suggestions have also aided in setting up my shop.

The following is a picture of the largest pot that I have ever thrown. Without having attended this workshop I would have never been able to throw this pot this quickly. This pot is 14 inches high and 9 ½ inches wide.

My teacher and one other student also attended this workshop with me. Each of us gained in our learning and abilities. I wholeheartedly recommend Nan’s workshops to anyone of any experience level.

Hi Nan, thank you so much for your hospitality and sharing your wealth of knowledge! Your adaptive throwing techniques were awesome. My back and knees didn't bother me at all after all that potting! I liked that you were able to pinpoint the few things that were throwing me off and help me correct them. Thank you for sharing your home, your art collection and your lunches! Thanks to your "assistant' Carter for helping with the lunches! I am so excited to use your techniques in class!

I LOVE PUG MILLS! Pattie

Hi Nan,
Thanks for a wonderful workshop! The three day throwing intensive workshop was just what I needed to get me out of my rut. This was the most productive workshop I have ever taken.
I loved learning to throw large two piece vessels. Your adaptive throwing techniques help a great deal as the joints get older. Thanks so much to Carter for setting out those awesome lunches.

Hi Nan! What a fabulous time we had during the workshop over the Memorial Day weekend!!! The weather was perfect, the food scrumpteous, but oh the throwing-most amazing!!I'm very thankful for my time there and your willingness to inspire and propel us to new levels and "fear not". I loved that when our instruction time was over, we were allowed to stay and practice until wee hours if desired. And I desired. The quality of the clay was superb, freshly pugged, and even when your time of teaching was over, you made sure we had ample clay at the ready. Thank you so much for the added hospitality and amazing meals provided by you and the efforts of the dish fairy, Carter. Oh, and the brownies for our way home. A very quality experience for what I believe a very fair price. Well worth it, and I plan on making this a yearly experience.
